If you want to apply for accreditation under the National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme but don’t know where to start, then you have come to the right place. At HV Compliance, we can help you become NHVAS accredited.
NHVAS Accreditation
First of all, you need to decide which NHVAS Module or Modules you feel would benefit your business the most. You must agree to abide by the NHVAS Business Rules and Applicable Accreditation Standards.
Once you have decided which accreditation module you wish to apply for, you will need to create and maintain a compliance management system. Make sure that the system meets the relevant accreditation standards. You can do this by documenting all the procedures that must be followed to enable conformance to the accreditation standard requirements and meet your own internal requirements.
NHVAS Compliance Management System
Next, you need to evaluate the effectiveness of the Compliance Management System. You will go through an independent audit by an NHVAS approved auditor (Entry or Establishment Audit). Once it is successful, you can then submit your Establish Accreditation Application to the NHVR along with the Entry Audit Report.
National Heavy Vehicle Regulator
If your application is approved, the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator will provide you with an accreditation approval notice and certificate of accreditation. It will outline all the conditions and the period of accreditation granted. You will then need to manage your Accreditation in accordance with the NHVAS rules, accreditation module standards, and your own internal policies and procedures.
Heavy Vehicle Compliance Audit
You are now NHVAS accredited. Now, you will need to undergo an Initial Compliance Audit (Due no earlier than 6 months and no later than 7 months) and then a second Scheduled Compliance Audit before the expiry of the accreditation period.
